A look back at Virage Days 2023

Virage Group took over the^3rd floor of the Nantes CCI for an event dedicated to steering managers.

Combining conferences, workshops and networking, this event brought together 85 people to discuss IT, PPM and management issues.

The " Virage Days" are a series of testimonials, expert reports and workshops that connect project management managers with their customers.

In attendance: CIOs, PMOs, project management experts and consultants from transformation firms.

The Virage Days event featured a number of outstanding speakers, all users of PPM Project Monitor software, including :

• IT Transformation & PMO Project Manager, Céline DESERT from VYV3 IT,
• Franck BARBI, Head of the Steering and Coordination Department, accompanied by Didier GUYON, Head of the Infrastructure Department,Eurométropole de Strasbourg,

Eurométropole de Strasbourg shares best practices: How to use universes of data to manage budgets

Franck BARBI and Didier GUYON, Heads of the Steering & Coordination and Infrastructure Departments at the Eurométropole de Strasbourg's Digital Department, shared their experience of budget management at the Eurométropole.

The cross-fertilization of tools with the Project Monitor solution saves time and provides vital insight into the management of over a hundred projects.

The introduction of the Galileo Datamart Module at Project Monitor has changed many aspects of budget arbitration within the structure:

• It is now easier to detect data anomalies in their projects
• A toolbox is available to meet every new need
• Project trade-offs are easier to spot

• Have a global vision of the use cases to be addressed, in order to create a relevant data model and avoid having to remodel the system in depth.
• Decide on the usefulness of historizing project data as soon as the system is initialized
• Think 'usability' to make report creation intuitive
• As the system is built, regularly re-test the performance of the reports created.
• Promote the added value of the reports created
• Implement a system non-regression test process when upgrading versions of Project Monitor or Galileo.

Céline DESERT, IT Transformation & PMO Project Manager, explains her long journey within VYV3 IT to gain recognition for the importance of a PMO structure for the group.

During this presentation, we took a behind-the-scenes look at the 10-year evolution of the PMO structure at VYV3 IT. Every piece of information presented here can be applied to your organization. It is with humility and presence of mind that our speaker brings her knowledge and best practices around the lessons to assimilate to become a true "PMO Jedi".

Here are a few tips for managing your PMO cell:

• Set up support sessions to show that the PMO is there to train: "P-Café", Masterclass sessions, training on the Project Monitor tool, setting up a "My PMO Support" Sharepoint.
• Set up dedicated "problem solver" reviews and governance support: workload plan review, review of high-risk projects, review of intentions/requests for new projects, etc.
• Create support materials around methods and tools: document templates, Sharepoint, illustrative visual "tutorials" with the CANVA tool...
• Maintain regular updates as needed: define monitoring indicators, organize regular updates between PMO & project managers...

• In 2013, the starting point was to do away with "in-house" tools to secure project rebilling and address the Group's development challenges : Track time spent on rebilling; Simplify the production and sharing of information; and Gain visibility on the impact of new projects (projects of intent).
